Our sensory-friendly Easter Egg Hunt had a fantastic turnout, and we’re so grateful for everyone who came out and made it special. The number of families who showed up spoke volumes about the need for inclusive, sensory-friendly events in our community.
We had a few challenges with the unexpected crowd due to the rain change, but overall, the event went beautifully. Next time, we’ll be even more prepared! Some lessons learned for future indoor events: we’ll plan to have tents outside so families don’t have to stand in the rain, add crafts along the line instead of just in the craft room to help with waiting, and have a sign-up for our newsletter for those who want to stay connected. Our raffle system worked out, but we’ll streamline that more too. One major takeaway is keeping traditional and sensory areas separate, this will help minimize overwhelm, and we’ll stick with that going forward.
Thie event would not have been possible without the volunteers, families, and supporters who showed up with love and patience.
To those who helped support or sponsor this event, we see you and we’re beyond thankful. We’ll be doing a proper shout-out in a dedicated thank you post, so stay tuned for that. If you helped and want to be mentioned, send us a quick message so we don’t miss you at inclusivefaith@faithonthespectrum.org
We’re just getting started, and this community is already showing up in a big way. 💙
